Choose accessories for your setup
Check the mounting point first
Measure the part the accessory actually fits. A rotary shaft, an upright vice stem and a pedestal base are not interchangeable mounting points. Check diameter, clearance and how the fitting opens or slides on. A matching brand name alone is not a guarantee of fit.
Material clips and waste catchers
A material clip holds waiting fibres away from the working area; a waste catcher collects trimmed ends beneath it. Position either so that it leaves the hook, thread and rotary movement clear. Empty a catcher regularly rather than allowing loose hooks or clippings to build up.
Caddies, mats and lighting
Bench organisers help separate frequently used tools from loose materials. Check the space around your vice base before choosing one. A foam display mat may be intended to hold finished flies, rather than protect a desk from adhesive. A normal tying lamp is not a UV resin curing light.
Tube fly adaptors
Check the adaptor’s fit in your jaws and the pin’s fit inside the tube. Tube bore and overall length matter more than a universal hook-size rule. Use the product’s stated dimensions where supplied, and confirm any missing measurement before ordering.
