Choose combs & brushes
Combing hair before tying
Hold the hair securely by the tips and work through the cut ends in small sections. Remove loose underfur before stacking where the pattern calls for clean, aligned tips. Work gently: vigorous combing can pull out the fibres you want to keep.
Brushing dubbing and synthetic fibres
Light strokes can tease fibres from a dubbed body or separate suitable synthetic materials. Secure the thread first and avoid catching the hook point, rib or fragile hackle. Start with less pressure and build the texture gradually. These are hand tools; a pre-made dubbing brush material is a different product.
