Choose an adhesive or finish
UV resin: shape, then cure
UV-curing resin is useful for controlled coatings and shaped heads or bodies. Match the light to the manufacturer’s curing requirements, including wavelength and exposure. Thickness, access to the coated area and the light itself affect curing. Do not use a fixed curing time across different products.
Varnish and head cement
These finishes are commonly used on thread heads and selected body surfaces. Follow the individual product’s drying instructions and use thin, controlled coats where recommended. Head cement is a product description rather than one universal chemical formula; check the label before using it on delicate synthetics.
Cyanoacrylate and epoxy
CA adhesive is used for suitable bonds; its viscosity affects application. It is not interchangeable with a flexible repair adhesive or a clear coating. Two-part epoxy must be mixed and used as instructed. A stated working or setting time is not necessarily the time needed for a full cure.
Dubbing and tying wax
Wax helps thread grip fibres or materials during tying. Choose the type for the technique and apply sparingly. It is not a replacement for a finishing knot, adhesive bond or protective resin coating.
Handling and curing safely
Read the label and safety information for the exact product. Avoid contact with uncured adhesives and resins, use the ventilation and protection specified, and keep products away from children. Cyanoacrylate can bond skin and eyes rapidly. Do not look into a UV beam or direct it towards eyes or skin.
