SPROAT WET FLY HOOK
The Butcher Wet Fly remains a "must-have" in traditional fly fishing setups. It’s often part of a team of wet flies and is particularly effective during late spring and summer months when trout and grayling are feeding actively.
The Butcher Wet Winged Fly is one of the classic wet fly patterns, originally tied in the 19th century in England. This fly was reputedly created by a man named William Blacker, an influential fly tyer and fishing tackle maker, although other sources suggest it was popularized by local anglers in the UK and Ireland around the same time. It was initially called "The Moon Fly" but later earned its name "Butcher" due to its effectiveness in catching fish, almost like a butcher cutting through meat.
